A Modern Approach to Web Design for Churches

As a local church grows and evolves, the way it shows up online begins to matter more and more.

Your website becomes one of the first places people go to learn more about your church. It’s where new visitors get a sense of who you are, where current members stay connected, and where your church can continue reaching people throughout the week.

That’s exactly what this project with Summerdale Assembly of God was designed to support.

A New Season for a Local Church

This was a return client, which always makes a project especially meaningful.

I originally designed their website years ago, and over time, their church stepped into a new season. Their brand had evolved, their vision had grown, and their website needed to reflect where they were headed.

They weren’t just looking for a visual refresh. They wanted a website that felt aligned with their updated branding and better supported how they serve their congregation day to day.

Bringing Their Brand and Website into Alignment

As part of this project, we refreshed their branding to better reflect who they are today.

From there, the website design naturally followed. Every element was updated to create a cohesive experience, from the layout to the visuals to the overall feel of the site.

The goal was to create something that felt welcoming, clear, and easy to navigate for both new visitors and long-time members.

When your branding and website are aligned, it creates a stronger first impression and helps people feel more connected from the moment they land on your site.

Expanding What Their Website Can Do

One of the biggest priorities for this project was increasing the functionality of the site.

Church websites today need to do more than share basic information. They need to support the life of the church and make it easy for people to stay connected throughout the week.

For Summerdale Assembly of God, that meant building a website that could support:

  • Online sermons so people can stay engaged beyond Sunday

  • Online giving for greater accessibility and ease

  • Clear, easy-to-find information for both visitors and members

These updates allow the website to function as a central hub for their church, rather than just a place to visit occasionally.

Designed for Both Visitors and Members

A thoughtful church website needs to serve two audiences at the same time.

It should feel welcoming and easy to navigate for someone visiting for the first time, while also supporting the ongoing needs of the people who already call the church home.

We structured the site so new visitors can quickly understand who they are, what to expect, and how to get connected.

At the same time, returning visitors can easily access sermons, giving options, and important updates without having to search for them.

This balance helps the website support the full experience of the church.

Supporting Visibility in Their Local Community

One of the most encouraging outcomes from this project has been the visibility of their website.

Since launching, they’ve been ranking on page one for churches in their local area, helping new people find them when they’re searching for a church nearby.

Along with that visibility, they’ve also seen an increase in website traffic and more opportunities to connect with both new visitors and their congregation.

It’s a great example of how thoughtful web design for churches can support both outreach and connection over time.

A Continued Partnership

Working with returning clients is always something I value deeply and continuing to support them through website management helps them never worry about whether their website is doing it’s job.

There’s already a level of trust and familiarity that makes the process feel smooth and collaborative. It also allows me to step back into their world with a deeper understanding of their church and their vision.

This project was about building on that foundation and helping them step into their next season with clarity and confidence.

The Result

Summerdale Assembly of God now has a website that reflects who they are today and supports how they serve their community.

Their site aligns with their updated branding, supports sermons and online giving, and provides a clear, welcoming experience for both visitors and members.

Most importantly, it gives them a space online that helps them continue reaching and serving people in their local community.

Thinking About Your Own Church Website?

If your church has grown or shifted over the years, your website should reflect that.

It should feel aligned with your mission, clearly communicate who you are, and support the way you serve your community.
